Littlepaw is an apprentice of ThunderClan. He returns to camp from a training session with Flashpaw and Daisypaw, and Daisypaw exclaims that they had a great battle practice. ThunderClan's deputy, Doefeather, observes that Daisypaw seems to have lost, and Flashpaw says that she and Littlepaw nearly squashed the other apprentice.

Later, Littlepaw is on a hunting patrol with Pinepaw, Mistpelt, Squirrelwhisker, Doefeather, and Daisypaw, when Pinepaw scents ShadowClan intruders on ThunderClan's territory. Pinepaw tells Doefeather, who calls the patrol to her, and Littlepaw and the others burst out of the undergrowth. Squirrelwhisker rushes off to chase the ShadowClan patrol, and Littlepaw follows close behind her. Pinepaw ignores Mistpelt's order to fetch help, electing to join the battle instead, and Littlepaw touches the reddish-brown apprentice's shoulder with his tail, telling him they can fight side-by-side. Pinepaw nods and steps closer to him before they leap at a snaggletoothed light-brown tom, and Littlepaw bites his ears. The cat dives to the ground, knocking Littlepaw away, while Pinepaw holds on. Littlepaw compliments Pinepaw's battle moves and bites the ShadowClan cat's tail, causing him to yowl and stagger in pain. The ShadowClan patrol is forced to retreat, and the ThunderClan cats chase them to the Thunderpath.

Littlepaw and the other apprentices listen to Nettlebreeze tell the tale of Mapleshade, who was once a warrior of ThunderClan. He remarks along with the others that if Mapleshade isn't in the Place of No Stars, there can be no justice. Fallowsong tells Nettlebreeze that he's giving the apprentices bad dreams, to which Littlepaw protests that he doesn't have bad dreams. Fallowsong remarks that she can hear the apprentices through the wall of her den.

Later, when a patrol finds kittypets on their territory, Littlepaw asks if they would really be dumb enough to attack the Clan cats. The apprentice is chosen as one of the cats to scare off the kittypets, alongside a few of his Clanmates. Daisypaw says that she is too excited to eat, and Littlepaw solemnly says that they'll need their strength. When they set out, the black-and-white tom is in a group alongside Doefeather and Daisypaw.

Flashnose: "No, I thought Fallowsong's kits would be made apprentices next moon."

Littlestep is now a warrior of ThunderClan. When Doestar and Cloudberry decide to promote Goosekit early, Littlestep is one of the cats to question why they are gathered in the clearing. He tells his Clanmate, Flashnose, that he thought none of the kits were six moons old yet. The she-cat informs Littlestep that she thought Fallowsong’s kits wouldn't be apprenticed until the moon after.
