[edit] History
[edit] In the Original Series
[edit] Into the Wild
- Firestar is first seen in Into the Wild as a young kittypet; his Twolegs called him Rusty. Rusty had been having strange dreams of himself hunting in the forest, but he would always wake up before he actually caught any prey. He had a soft friend named Smudge, who never seemed too long to do exciting things.
- One night, Rusty ventured into the forest, and was attacked by a young forest cat named Graypaw. Rusty confronted Graypaw instead of running away like most kittypets would, impressing Bluestar and Lionheart, who had been watching them. Bluestar invites him to join ThunderClan, one of the warrior Clans mentioned by Graypaw, as a result. When he is met by Lionheart and another cat, named Whitestorm, the next day, he chooses to join the Clan, and makes the journey to ThunderClan's camp.
- When Bluestar announced her intent to accept the kittypet, Rusty, into the Clan, a lot of her Clanmates are infuriated. A young warrior named Longtail taunts Rusty, and Rusty attacks him. The battle was won by Rusty. Longtail tore off Rusty's collar and received a split ear in the process. Bluestar accepts the broken collar as an indisputable omen that the kittypet should be a Clan cat, and grants Rusty his apprentice name, Firepaw because of his flame colored pelt and maybe because of the prophecy fire alone will save our clan.
- Firepaw is at first mentored by Tigerclaw and Lionheart combined, but eventually gets a very shocking choice for an official mentor. Bluestar herself. The Clan is very surprised, as it is a high honor. She chose him because of his exceptional skill that exceeded the other apprentices, and because she had a suspicion that he was part of the fire prophecy. Tigerclaw continously bullies him, as do the other two apprentices, Sandpaw and Dustpaw. Graypaw stays by Firepaw's side all the time, and they are best friends. Ravenpaw, a timid apprentice, is somewhat a third wheel for the best friends.
- Firepaw caught on very fast on everything he was taught, and soon was recognized as a natural warrior with leadership skills.
- Later in his apprenticeship, Firepaw encounters a ShadowClan cat, who is now living as a rogue since being unfairly driven out, named Yellowfang, whom he also defeats, injuring her leg. Instead of turning her over to his Clan, Firepaw feeds her before feeding his Clan. After they both had eaten, they were caught by a ThunderClan patrol, which takes Yellowfang into custody. Firepaw's punishment for breaking The Warrior Code is to care for the grumpy former medicine cat.
- It becomes apparent to Firepaw that Ravenpaw, his timid friend and the only witness to Tigerclaw's alleged murder of Redtail, is in grave danger. Firepaw and Graypaw help him escape to live with the loner, Barley, spreading the rumor that his fellow apprentice had died.
- Firepaw is shocked and hurt when Thunderclan's medicine cat, Spottedleaf, is murdered. It is apparent he liked the she-cat, although he knew it was against the Warrior Code to do so, as medicine cats are not allowed to have mates. Later it is revealed that they both were in love with each other.
- Later, Bluestar sends Firepaw and Graypaw into ShadowClan territory to find and question Yellowfang and attempt to recover the stolen ThunderClan kits - Brackenkit, Cinderkit, Thornkit, and Brightkit. It is later realized that Yellowfang didn't murder Spottedleaf like expected, but Clawface, one of Brokenstar's followers, did. Following the successful mission Bluestar grants him the name Fireheart and the status of a warrior along with Graypaw, who becomes Graystripe.
[edit] Fire and Ice
- Fireheart and Graystripe are sent by Bluestar to find WindClan, who has been driven from their land by ShadowClan, and return them to their territory. The missing Clan is found and returned, but while returning to ThunderClan the pair of Warriors are found trespassing on RiverClan territory along with a WindClan warrior named Onewhisker(who later becomes very friendly towards Fireheart), and the deputy, Deadfoot. During the battle that ensues, a RiverClan warrior named Whiteclaw falls to his death. This death is blamed on Graystripe, who tried to catch his falling enemy. Also during the fight, Fireheart saves Sandpaw from falling over the side of the gorge. She snaps at him, not noticing how close she came to death at first, saying "I can fight my own battles!" Then, afterwards, she sees what he did, and slowly begins to warm up to him, leading to their love.
- When the pair arrives at camp Fireheart is given his first apprentice, a she-cat called Cinderpaw, a kit Fireheart had rescued in the previous book. Cinderpaw is later gravely injured by a monster in what Fireheart believes was a trap for Bluestar that had been laid by Tigerclaw. He suspects it when Tigerclaw mentions "plaything" to Cloudkit later in this book.
- On one of their training sessions, Fireheart spots a familiar kittypet. When Cinderpaw says that they should drive her away, he steps on a twig purposefully to scare her away. It is later known that the pregnant she-cat is Fireheart's sister.
- Fireheart's sister, Princess, gives him her first-born son, Cloudkit, to take back to ThunderClan, and to be raised as a Clan cat.
- Later, when Brokenstar, the former leader of ShadowClan, returns with a group of rogues, Fireheart is the only fully trained warrior in camp. Fireheart and the handful of able fighters manage to drive the rogues away, and Brokenstar is blinded by Yellowfang during the battle, and thus unable to make his escape. Bluestar decides that the Clan would have mercy and keep him as a prisoner rather than slaying a helpless cat, and changes his name to Brokentail.
- When RiverClan and ShadowClan ally to attack WindClan, ThunderClan warriors are sent to aid them. During the battle Fireheart permits Silverstream, Graystripe's forbidden lover, to escape. Tigerclaw sees this, and views it as a defect in Fireheart's loyalty.
[edit] Forest of Secrets
- After one of the Gatherings, he and Graystripe sneak away to WindClan territory to find Ravenpaw, and confirm his story of the death of Redtail. When they found him, they questioned him about what he saw during the battle where Redtail was killed. They also ate mice that they caught in the barn, and when asked by Tigerclaw why they smelled of fresh-kill when they had none, they remarked that it was not a hunting patrol, and they ate to keep up their strength.
- Fireheart and Graystripe caught ThunderClan prey and gave it to RiverClan during the period of the flooded river.
- Silverstream had Graystripe's kits near the stepping stones, with Fireheart running to summon Cinderpaw, the new medicine cat apprentice. Though Silverstream died, Graystripe's two kits, Featherkit (who was very similar to her mother) and Stormkit (who was equally similar to his father) survived. Cinderpaw blamed herself for the death of Silverstream. Graystripe wanted the kits to grow up in their mother's Clan, so he had the kits relocated to RiverClan.
- Fireheart stopped Tigerclaw from killing Bluestar and also exposed his treachery. Tigerclaw was exiled from ThunderClan by orders of Bluestar. As he leaves, he threatens Fireheart's life. To Fireheart's and the Clan's astonishment, Bluestar made Fireheart deputy, instead of a more senior warrior. However, she violated the warrior code in that she named her new deputy after the moon had risen and past. Many believed this was a bad omen, and were skeptical about their new deputy.
- Fireheart is assigned his nephew, Cloudpaw, as his apprentice.
- Graystripe admitted that Fireheart was right. He couldn't leave his kits in another Clan. So he went with them, Mistyfoot, Silverstream's cousin and best friend, waiting at the border of RiverClan territory.
[edit] Rising Storm
- In the beginning of Rising Storm, Fireheart and Bluestar attempt to travel to Highstones, but are stopped by a WindClan patrol led by Mudclaw. The WindClan warriors do not let them pass, and eventually Fireheart and Bluestar return to camp, rather than start a fight.
- When Fireheart finds out that Cinderpelt has been taking care of Whitethroat and Littlecloud, two ShadowClan warriors who had gotten very sick when their camp had been infected, he tells her and the ShadowClan cats that they must leave the territory.
- He is later attacked by Tigerclaw and his rogues, after chasing Whitethroat onto the Thunderpath, and defeats him with the help of Graystripe.
- His apprentice, Cloudpaw, has been traveling to a Twoleg nest every day, getting food from the Twolegs. When Fireheart finds out, he tells him to stop, but the apprentice refuses to listen. Fireheart follows him on one of his "outings," and helplessly watches as the Twolegs put his nephew in a cage, and take him away in a monster. Fireheart says that he has lost everyone in his clan, and Sandstorm, who apparently has feelings for him, says that she had thought she had mattered to him, but that she must have been wrong. Fireheart feels bad, because he had been falling in love with her.
- Later still, Ravenpaw visits ThunderClan, and tells Fireheart that he found a white kittypet that was lost, and smelled of ThunderClan. Ravenpaw takes Fireheart and Sandstorm to the Twoleg nest, where they rescued Cloudpaw from his captivity. On the way back to camp, they are attacked by Mudclaw, his apprentice, Webpaw, and the WindClan deputy, Deadfoot. Cloudpaw drives off Webpaw, even though he had been locked indoors for almost a moon, and helps Sandstorm defeat Mudclaw. Fireheart tells Deadfoot, "I'll show you respect when you've earned it," and sends him running back to WindClan camp.
- Later that night Fireheart is woken up by the smell of fire and alerts his Clan of the danger. When everyone is evacuating, they realize that Bramblekit is missing, along with Patchpelt and Halftail. He and Yellowfang return to camp and find Bramblekit stuck in a burning tree. Fireheart rescues him, and the tree falls, separating him from Yellowfang. He drags Patchpelt to the river, hoping to save him, but the elderly tom dies. The next day, he and Graystripe go back to camp. Fireheart finds Yellowfang dying. Yellowfang tells him that she killed her son, Brokentail, not knowing that he already knew this.
- At the end of the book, Fireheart takes his clanmates to the gathering, because Bluestar refused to go. When they arrive, they find that Nightstar has died. This confuses Fireheart, as Nightstar only recently received his nine lives and name at the Moonstone. When the new ShadowClan leader finally arrives, Fireheart is horrified to find that Tigerstar is ShadowClan's new leader.
[edit] A Dangerous Path
- Several patrols find remains of birds and fresh-kill, along with evidence of a dog by Snakerocks. Fireheart tries to convince Bluestar that it truly is a dog, but she believes it is actually WindClan. She plans to attack, but Fireheart comes up with a plan to diverse the battle behind Bluestar's back. When he tells the rest of the warriors about what he has done, most of them are angry, including Sandstorm.
- When the time comes for Bramblekit and Tawnykit to become apprentices, Bluestar asks Fireheart to choose mentors for them. He chooses to be Bramblekit's mentor himself, and Brackenfur to mentor Tawnykit, even though Sandstorm was the obvious choice. She is furious at him for this and makes it a point to ignore him afterward. Fireheart could not tell Sandstorm why he chose Brackenfur as Tawnykit's mentor; he wished to protect her from Tigerstar, as he was afraid that the Shadowclan leader would harm the mentors of his kits.
- Fireheart finds out that Tigerstar is feeding a pack of wild dogs, who had killed Swiftpaw earlier in the book, and at the same time brutally injured Brightpaw. Brightpaw is cruelly renamed Lostface by Bluestar, as a part of her paranoia about StarClan. Before they leave to get rid of the wild dogs, Fireheart reveals to Sandstorm his love for her saying "I'm sorry, Sandstorm," he murmured. "I never meant to hurt you." His voice barely a whisper, he added, "I love you." Sandstorm's eyes glowed. "I love you too," she said. At the end of the book while Fireheart is trying to get the wild dog pack to go over the gorge Tigerstar stops him and pins Fireheart down. Bluestar shows up and knocks the dog that is attacking Fireheart over the edge of the gorge along with herself. Fireheart tries to save her by jumping in after her, but he almost drowns. Mistyfoot and Stonefur appear, and, since they are RiverClan cats and swim well, help Fireheart carry Bluestar up on to the bank where the ThunderClan leader shares tongues with her children one last time, and she dies, but not before telling Fireheart that he is indeed the fire that was prophesied to save ThunderClan.
[edit] The Darkest Hour
- After Bluestar's death he travels to the Moonstone for his leadership ceremony. He receives his nine lives, but the ceremony is interrupted by a pile of cat and prey bones rising out of the ground, with blood flowing out of the center. Bluestar then gives him this prophecy:
- "Four will become two, Lion and Tiger will meet in battle, and Blood will rule the forest".
- He exiled Darkstripe when he betrayed ThunderClan, trying to kill Sorrelkit with deathberries after she tracked him meeting up with Blackfoot, the ShadowClan Deputy. After Cloudtail complains about Lostface's name, Firestar is told by One-eye how to perform the name-changing ceremony, and renames Lostface as Brightheart.
- He and Sandstorm are apparent mates now. Though it is not directly stated until later books, Cinderpelt had been in love with the ginger warrior, though he never knew. She seems to flare up at Sandstorm a few times, but eventually the two warm up and become great friends.
- Meanwhile, Tigerstar, leader of ShadowClan, tries to unite all four of the original Clans to form TigerClan. Only Leopardstar joins him, showing bad judgement as a leader.
- Scourge believes that Tigerstar is just a normal Clan leader, but Firestar reveals to the BloodClan leader Tigerstar's treachery, and Scourge then rips all of the ShadowClan leader's lives away when Tigerstar acts like Scourge is under his control.
- Firestar also instigates the anti-BloodClan movement, and led LionClan, all of the four Clans together. During the battle with BloodClan, he killed Scourge, ending the battle, losing a life himself in the process.
- In the end, all is peaceful, and Firestar continues his leadership.
[edit] The Rise of Scourge
- Firestar only appears once in The Rise of Scourge. This is when Firestar is telling Scourge about all of the lies and the treacherous things that Tigerstar had done, just to get power, and for revenge against the Clan. After Firestar was done telling Scourge, the small cat wipes out all of Tigerstar's nine lives.

[edit] Firestar's Quest
- In the beginning of Firestar's Quest, Firestar is having weird dreams of cats. After a Gathering he travels to the Moonstone to share tongues with StarClan, when Bluestar tells him these are the cats of ancient SkyClan, the fifth Clan of the forest, and were driven out by other Clans.
- Later, Silverstream appears to Firestar in a dream, giving him a StarClan fish. She reminds him of the life that she gave to him, the life to do what you feel is right, convincing him that StarClan wants him to complete this mission, to right the wrong they failed to stop so many years ago.
- He then runs into Smudge and discovers that he is having the same dreams as Firestar. That night, he decides to stay at Smudge's garden where he then has a dream of Cloudstar, the ancient leader of SkyClan, and soon tells Firestar that he is in the old SkyClan camp and must make a dangerous journey to rebuild SkyClan. The next day he comes back to camp to tell Graystripe, Cinderpelt, and Sandstorm all he knows about SkyClan. At first they think he will go back to the Twolegs, but when he chooses Sandstorm to go with him on the journey, the deputy and medicine cat agree to watch over the Clan while they're gone.
- Firestar and Sandstorm are attacked by a storm during their way to SkyClan's camp. They get separated, and Firestar looks through all of the Twoleg gardens to try and find Sandstorm. He fears that she died, and is wracked with guilt because just before, they had an argument about Spottedleaf. Soon they are reunited after Sandstorm saves him from a hostile Kittypet
- Firestar and Sandstorm make it to SkyClan's camp where they meet an old cat named Sky, the last cat keeping alive the SkyClan memory. Sky asks Firestar to rebuild the Clan, and Firestar, feeling forced to say yes, obliges. Two kittypets named Cherry and Boris join, and their names become Cherrypaw and Sparrowpaw. Firestar finds many SkyClan cats around the area, enough to make a whole Clan.
- Before Skywatcher (Sky) dies, he tells Firestar the Power of Three prophecy (There will be three, kin of your kin, who hold the power of the stars in their paws). In a dream, Skywatcher also tells him about a medicine cat that he finds, and he names her Echosong. The Clan finds a large barn full of angry rats that drove out the first Clan. Firestar leads the Clan into attack against them, but loses a warrior, Rainfur. Also, Firestar loses another life. After the battle, he helps Leafdapple earn her nine lives to become Leafstar.
- In the epilogue, it says Firestar fathers two kits, whom they name Leafkit and Squirrelkit. Sandstorm and Firestar were visited by Spottedleaf, who assured Sandstorm that Firestar would always love her more, and that Spottedleaf would never have been able to love him like she could. Firestar supports her, telling Sandstorm that while he holds Spottedleaf in a special place, Spottedleaf would never take Sandstorm's place of being his only true love.
[edit] Bluestar's Prophecy
- He is a minor character in Bluestar's Prophecy. Only described as a kittypet with a fiery ginger pelt that Bluestar takes an interest in. It is revealed in this that Graypaw's encounter with Rusty was no accident but ordered by Bluestar. In the manga ending Firestar appears in the scene from Into the Wild where he is first introduced to the ThunderClan camp except from Bluestar's prospective. She ends the novel with the comment, "the time of fire has begun."
[edit] In the New Prophecy Series
[edit] Midnight
- After Firestar received the prophecy about the fire and the tiger from Cinderpelt and Leafpaw, he tried to keep Brambleclaw and Squirrelpaw away from each other. He tried hard, for he thought danger would come to the Clan if they could see each other. After many attempts to keep the two cats away from each other, he failed. Firestar was very stressed out after the disappearance, and sent many patrols out to find the two. At the end of Midnight, Firestar and a couple other cats witnessed one of the first monsters that traveled away from the Thunderpath, and sent the first damage to ThunderClan territory.
[edit] Moonrise
- In Moonrise, Firestar starts to become more and more worried about a lot of things. Firestar is very worried about the Twoleg construction, and is afraid that the forest is become much to dangerous to live in. The forest was becoming a bad place for ThunderClan to live in, and the monsters were destroying more and more of the Clan's territory. To add on to that Firestar was very worried about his daughter, Squirrelpaw, that had left with Brambleclaw not telling anyone where they went. Graystripe was helping the troubled leader cope with the disappearance, because Graystripe knew what it was like to live without a loved one.
[edit] Dawn
- When the monsters were moving too near to the ThunderClan camp, Firestar had to move the Clan to Sunningrocks. Then, Squirrelpaw and Brambleclaw returned from the Great Journey, and, though he was overjoyed to see them, he was not completely sure about their idea of leaving. When ShadowClan's camp was being terrorized by monsters, he brought his complete Clan and the whole of WindClan to help. Soon after beginning of their trek, Firestar saw a tree falling near Onewhisker, so he pushed him out of the way along with some ShadowClan kits. Though he saved others' lives, that did not prevent him from losing yet another life, leaving him only six. Firestar allowed ShadowClan to stay with ThunderClan until it was time to leave. Firestar helped the Clan leave the forest and remained optimistic during most of the journey.
[edit] Starlight
- When the cats were at the lake, Firestar made his daughter, Squirrelpaw, into a warrior, now Squirrelflight.
- Firestar was told by Onewhisker to come over by Tallstar behind a bush where he was dying. Firestar, along with Onewhisker and Brambleclaw was told that Onewhisker was deputy before Tallstar's death. Barkface arrived soon after and believed the ThunderClan cats. Firestar told WindClan about the announcement for Onewhisker because the new leader was afraid nobody would believe him.
- On the night Mudclaw revolted, Firestar brought help to WindClan from his cats, and helped drive away Mudclaw and his attempt to become leader.
[edit] Twilight
- Firestar and ThunderClan seem to be settling in alright. Firestar has still not appointed a deputy, with the faint hope that Graystripe may still be living. ThunderClan has problems on their's and WindClan's borders, though. Blackstar can't seem to contain his warriors, as it is ShadowClan that is the problem.
- Firestar is also worried about Onestar and how his Clan are doing. He send some cats over to ask how they were doing, only to be told that Onestar can deal with his own Clan and their Clan's problems alone.
- One night badgers attack the camp as payback for them driving them out. Firestar fought along every warrior, and almost lost the fight. He would have lost, if it weren't for WindClan that sent over a couple warriors to help. This act ended some of the tension between Firestar and Onestar. His daughter, Leafpool, and her forbidden mate, Crowfeather, also came back to ThunderClan. Firestar grieved for his former apprentice, Cinderpelt, when she died protecting a kitting Sorreltail from the badgers.
[edit] Sunset
- After a long convincing by Sandstorm and Brambleclaw, Firestar had to accept Graystripe's death and move on.
- Leafpool told him of a sign about brambles protecting the camp, and Firestar was sure that Brambleclaw would be deputy.
- Firestar later gets caught in a fox trap when he was told by Birchpaw that Blackstar was on ThunderClan territory. It turned out to be a trap from Hawkfrost, who wanted Brambleclaw to kill his leader. Brambleclaw refuses and digs up the end of the trap, killing his half brother in the process. Firestar thanked Brambleclaw for showing his loyalty to the Clan and for not killing him, and makes Brambleclaw deputy.
[edit] In the Power of Three Series
[edit] The Sight
- Firestar's duties continue as he witnesses the birth and apprenticeship of his grandchildren Hollykit, Lionkit, and Jaykit. Firestar is the only one who knows that these three kits have the "Power of the Stars in their paws"
- Although his grandson, Jaypaw, is blind, he allows him to train as a warrior. When Hollypaw wants to quit being a medicine cat apprentice and train as a warrior, at the same time Jaypaw wants to leave his apprentice life behind, Firestar is skeptical it wasn't planned, but goes along with it and allows Hollypaw to train as a warrior and Jaypaw as a medicine cat. He assigns Hollypaw the mentor of Brackenfur instead of Jaypaw's warrior mentor Brightheart.
- After long last, Firestar's best friend, Graystripe, finds his way back to the Clans with his new mate, Millie. Even though he is pleased to see his friend, Firestar must choose who will be ThunderClan's deputy. After a long decision, his daughter, Leafpool, and his grandson, Jaypaw tell him that Brambleclaw should remain deputy. He realizes that that decision is probably for the best because Brambleclaw has been around longer and knows what is going on with the Clan.
- When Jaypaw tells him and Sandstorm of Tallstar's warning to Barkface about the dogs, Firestar ignores his warning telling him that StarClan could be telling them to keep the look out for dogs, not take WindClan's territory. When Millie, Graystripe's new mate, asks if she can keep her kittypet name, he kindly obliges.
[edit] Dark River
- In Dark River, when Hollypaw saw that something was wrong with RiverClan, she asked Firestar to send a patrol to check on the Clan, but he refused. Later, Onestar accuses him of stealing Sedgekit, Thistlekit, and Swallowkit, not knowing that they were lost in the tunnels. He is relieved when the apprentices show up and stop the battle thanking them deeply.
[edit] Outcast
- When Firestar finds two cats from The Tribe of Rushing Water, he welcomes them kindly and asks them to come and stay as long as they needed to. He listened to the cats' story, and said it would be fine for Stormfur and Brook to go. When Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight asked to go, he answered yes also, because those two cats knew the tribe better than any other cat, and the tribe deserved help after what they did for the cats when they were journeying to the lake.
[edit] Eclipse
- In Eclipse, Firestar has some trouble with WindClan crossing the border. He tries to send some cats, but they are turned down by Ashfoot. Some cats want to fight, but he says no blood will be shed unless there has to be. When WindClan attacked, Firestar fought against them. The ThunderClan leader directed his clans into three patrols, himself leading one, to fight the three groups of WindClan. On his patrol, he found the fox hole where WindClan was sneaking onto ThunderClan territory. He told his warriors to cave in the hole, which started the fight by his patrol. At the end of the book he gives two of his grandchildren and Cinderpaw their warrior names, naming them Hollyleaf, Lionblaze, and Cinderheart.
[edit] Long Shadows
- In the first two chapters of the book, Lionblaze asks Ashfur for some battle training, Firestar is angry about this and yells at them, telling Lionblaze that he is a warrior now and didn't need training. He later becomes ill when greencough has spread around the camp. The catmint in Thunderclan territory dries out, so he and the other cats who had caught the sickness go into the old twoleg nest. Firestar loses a life from the sickness, this is thought to have left him with five lives left. When catmint is found, they all recover and those who can go back to camp. Millie and Briarkit are the last to recover from the Greencough, but everyone returns to camp and return to the normal on-goings. It is later revealed that Ashfur was the one that helped Hawkfrost to try to kill Firestar, since he was the father of Squirrelflight.
[edit] Sunrise
- Firestar is worried that Sol might not be Ashfur's killer and starts to wonder if he was right to send the patrol to the sun-drown place. Later, he asks Leafpool if she can try to speak with Ashfur in StarClan and ask him who his killer is, but he is disappointed when she tells him that she can only speak to him if Ashfur comes to speak with her. When Hollyleaf tells the Clans about their true parents, he is very surprised and shocked, but takes control over the Clan, saying that they need to stay strong, despite all that has happened.
[edit] In the Omen of the Stars Series
[edit] The Fourth Apprentice
- It was revealed that shortly before this book, Firestar lost a life (his 5th) when he was attacked by a fox. Jayfeather feared that the ThunderClan leader has lost his last life, but was relieved when he opened his eyes.
- At the Gathering, Firestar tries to react calmly to Leopardstar's claims that all the fish in the lake belong to RiverClan. On the way home, he declares that ThunderClan will not attack any RiverClan cats patrolling the lake.
- Later, Lionblaze convinces Firestar to send a patrol upstream to see if something is blocking the water, working off of Dovepaw's keen senses, but he tells Firestar and everyone else that she had a dream from StarClan. Firestar agrees, and at the next Gathering proposes the idea to the other Clan leaders and gets them to agree with him. The next day, he announces to his Clan that Lionblaze and Dovepaw would go to represent ThunderClan.
- He welcomes the cats when they return, and briefly mourns the death of Rippletail when Lionblaze and Dovepaw report to him, but then is happy that they found the water.
[edit] In the Field Guide Series
[edit] Cats of the Clans
- Firestar is the first character mentioned in this book. Rock explains the kits how Firestar's kittypet origins do not make him less of a warrior, and he wonders what Bluestar was thinking when she brought him into the forest.
- Rock shows sympathy for Firestar, saying that he is hardly able to close his eyes without 'some farsighted dream filling his mind', though admits that Firestar has handled this well. He wonders whether it took more than a Clanborn cat to discover Tigerstar's treachery, or bring WindClan back home when they were chased away by ShadowClan.
- He also hints that he knows how Firestar will lose each of his nine lives.
[edit] Plays and Stories
[edit] Ultimate Leader Election: Firestar
- Firestar first found two injured RiverClan warriors on his territory, coming from the ShadowClan border: Pouncetail and Otterheart. He took them back to his camp to be nursed by Leafpool.
- Later, he called a special Gathering before the full moon to discuss the troubles among the Clans: scarce prey, fighting along the borders, and the like. When the Clans decided they needed to unite for a short time to survive, after the casting of stones as suggested by Jayfeather, he was elected as the leader for the united Clans for that time.
[edit] Brightspirit's Mercy
- Firestar appeared at the first Gathering. He was reluctant to reveal that ThunderClan had plenty of prey during leaf-bare whilst the rest of the Clans were starving, in case they tried to steal prey from ThunderClan's territory. When he didn't talk much, Blackstar asked if he was too scared to admit that his Clan was going hungry, when it was really the opposite.
[edit] Erin Hunter Chat
- In a chat with Erin Hunter (on August 16th), it is revealed that Scourge and Firestar share the same father, thus Firestar is a half-brother to Scourge, Ruby, and Socks.

[edit] Warrior Ceremony
Fireheart's and Graystripe's warrior ceremony[9]
Bluestar-
- I, Bluestar, leader of ThunderClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on these two apprentices. They have trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend them to you as warriors in their turn.
- Firepaw, Graypaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend this Clan, even at the cost of you lives?
Firepaw-
- I do.
Graypaw-
- I do.
Bluestar-
