In The Prophecies Begin arc
Fire and Ice
- Mistlekit is a ThunderClan kit, and is the daughter of Speckletail. It is mentioned that she has whitecough.
- Although not named, Mistlekit lays on a nest of moss in a bracken at the edge of the clearing of ThunderClan camp. Yellowfang, the medicine cat, tries to persuade her to eat some herbs. Mistlekit sniffs, and blinks at her with runny eyes, revealing to Fireheart that she has whitecough.
- Yellowfang thanks Fireheart for bringing a mouse for her, and asks Fireheart to persuade Mistlekit to eat her medicine. Mistlekit coughs as Fireheart approaches. He gently pushes a small bundle of herbs towards the kit, and tells her if she wants to be a warrior, she'll have to get used to swallowing these herbs. He adds that when she makes her trip to the Moonstone, she’ll have to eat herbs far worse.
- Mistlekit looks at Fireheart with half-closed eyes, and Fireheart urges to think of this as practice for when she becomes a warrior. Mistlekit reaches forward and takes a tentative mouthful. Yellowfang, now finished with the mouse Fireheart brought before, compliments Fireheart, and they both leave the kit alone.
- Swiftpaw has also fallen ill and lays beside Mistlekit. In the end, Mistlekit and Swiftpaw are said to have recovered from whitecough and have abandoned the oak they were once in.
