The Moonpool took the place of the Moonstone when the Clans left the forest and found the lake. It was discovered by Leafpaw and Sorreltail when Spottedleaf came to Leafpaw in a dream, telling her to follow "starlight on water".
For a cat to share tongues with StarClan, they must lie down and lap the water and then fall asleep, and they dream with their warrior ancestors. Leaders come here to receive their nine lives, or when they want to ask StarClan for guidance.
The medicine cats from all four Clans gather at the Moonpool every half-moon to receive directions and guidances from StarClan.
Onestar was the first cat to be made leader at this sacred place, while Leafpaw was named Leafpool in honor of her discovering the Moonpool.

The Moonpool is located through WindClan territory. Cats follow the river to the northeast corner of the Clans' territory.
