Chapter description[]

The large flap the Twolegs placed over the barn and the lingering scent of smoke results in scarce prey. A few days after the fire, Ravenpaw and Barley discover a deceased rabbit on their land, but fail to detect any scent due to the remaining smoke and recent rainfall. One night, Ravenpaw and Barley hear scratching from the chicken coop and discover Willie and his friends have returned. Delighted, Ravenpaw asks why they didn't say hello, but to his horror, Willie and his friends attack the chicks. Despite their attempts to stop them, Ravenpaw and Barley are outnumbered as Willie and his friends flee with a feast. Ravenpaw realizes he was wrong about the rogues, and while he and Barley try to clean up the mess, the male Twoleg chases them out, suspecting they are the cats who killed his chickens.
The Twoleg angrily chases them away from the farm, and Ravenpaw and Barley run into Willie and his group. The group reveals they plan on moving into the farm and disclose they are former BloodClan members looking to start their own version of the Clan. Ravenpaw and Barley try to defend their territory but they are outnumbered. Before Willie can deliver a finishing blow to Ravenpaw, Minty stops him, and Ravenpaw suspects it is because he was kind to her kits. Defeated, Ravenpaw and Barley leave and take shelter underneath some bushes to rest. Ravenpaw apologizes to Barley for not believing him, but Barley insists he shouldn't worry about it.
