Why Image Restrictions?

It says:

Signatures should not contain images that are not expressly mentioned as an exception.

Why is that? ~Echostar 07:43, April 9, 2010 (UTC)

Well, I didn't write the policy, but I can take a good guess as to the reasoning behind it. Images disrupt the flow of the page a bit, and also, if they get deleted, we end up with loads of redlinks everywhere the person signed. All in all, it's just a pain, and signatures can be just as fun without images. insaneular The original Hazelnut spread 22:44, April 9, 2010 (UTC)

Late, but better than not at all. Insane has answered the question exactly. I wrote the original version of the policy, and the reasons insane quoted as the exact reasons for including the ban. There's also a third reason: Respect for those with dialup. People with dialup, for whom every image just drags their load-times even longer, deserve respect to. Keeping images out of signatures helps keep non-essential images from preventing them from having fair usability where talk pages are concerned.  Kitsufox  Den/CoSC 17:51, August 26, 2010 (UTC)

Sorry, I don't know where else to post this. I've been trying to fix our signiture so it matches the rules by linking back to our talk page, but when I put it in the signiture box, it cuts off the end. If I don't click custom signiture, it shows up as coding. If I do click custom signiture, it says invalid raw signiture because the end is cut off. I don't see why it would be too long, as I've seen users with much more coding then ours have, and their signitures work fine.

Also, how do you create a sub page?

Thanks, Mosswhisker & Steatlhfire 18:03, August 8, 2010 (UTC)

Click here to make your sig page, and put all the code there - you shouldn't have any length issues. Then in your sig box (with custom signatures checked) put {{Nosubst|User:Mosswisker&Stealthfire/Sig}} and your signature should work fine :) insaneular 18:13, August 8, 2010 (UTC)

Question about Subpages

Why would I need a subpage? Do I need to create one? I think my signature is okay on everything else. Thanks. Hollydapple 04:29, August 13, 2010 (UTC)

Creating a subpage means that the code can be delivered to your page without 2-3 lines of excess text being added to clutter up pages. Please migrate your code to a subpage and conform with instructions. Thank you,  Kitsufox  Den/CoSC 17:48, August 26, 2010 (UTC)

Preformated Time/Date

I fixed my siggie so it matches the Policy, but why does it show the date and time in preformatted coding? See below

User:Totallytawnypelt99/Sig 17:40, August 26, 2010 (UTC)

So now I have to sign it with 3 tildes instead of 4. User:Totallytawnypelt99/Sig

If you sign with only three tildes you don't get a date and time. Which you want. If you look at your signature above, you do, in fact, have a time and date. This is a good thing. This is something you want. Please be sure to include the fourth tilde so that your signature includes a time and date. It's nice to know when someone said something and helps avoid confusion like re-punishing a person for something they've already been talked to about, etc.  Kitsufox  Den/CoSC 17:47, August 26, 2010 (UTC)

I can't create a signature!

I tried lots of times, but I still couldn't create a signature!

You need coding, you can check out this for help. Also, you can't just write words to make a signature, as I repeat, you need coding. ℱrostheartϡ Hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia 02:33, October 19, 2010 (UTC)

I have a siggie now.

Shinystar Shinystar's Prophecy: The silver cat

Gotcha, but don't gotcha

I'm an admin on another wiki, and I'd like to create a different sig there than the one I have here. I followed the instructions, but it didn't work! Can someone give me a few pointers on that? Please? --Cheetah Talk! 14:53, March 23, 2011 (UTC)

Something I saw

Is it really appropriate to say "You can't add catogories from the catogory box or it will screw up your siggie." Wouldn't it be more appropriate to say "mess" up. I don't's just something I noticed. User:Z!/Sig 17:54, July 6, 2012 (UTC)

I certainly agree- I actually stopped at that word, too, and had second thoughts as well. ;) (Post Script: Siggie may not be working yet- still testing :)) User:(Leafsong11)/Sig 20:44, July 17, 2012 (UTC) Second try: User:Leafsong11/Sig 20:46, July 17, 2012 (UTC)

Expired Image Link?

When I clicked the "@Wikia" link it lead me to a Wikia page which said that the image did not exist. It may have expired...? Just bringing it to your attention; thanks, User:Leafsong11/Sig 21:17, July 17, 2012 (UTC) [siggy may not work- still trying to get coding working; but this is Leafsong11]

User and talk page links

Can we add in a new rule that, the links to your talk and user page have to be at least 3 chararters/one word long? I can't get over the frustration I feel when people (not mentioning names) have a word and each letter represents a friend and there's only one/2 characters representing their own talk/user page and then it takes 5 minutes to aim your cursor to get to their userpage -_- or is that just me? Comments? (Don't want to aim anything at anyone)

I really need help with my signature, as I cannot for the life of me code things. I had an account before this, and someone created my signature for me. Does anyone still do that? Please help! KittehTheWolf (talk) 21:30, December 29, 2013 (UTC)

Changing Signatures

It says:

Signatures should not be changed excessively often. If you completely change your signature's look much more than once a month then the sysops will speak with you.

Is it acceptable to change your signature 2 times in one month? ☽➸ Hawky Void Shadowshot19:25 Wed Aug 13

Honestly, it doesn't bother me in the least if you change your signature multiple times in a month (I do =/). I think some of the stuff needs to be tweaked anyways- sometimes you find the colors don't go with one another, or you change it to something else. It's just text, and imho, I don't think we should limit that. Jayce team rowlet < 19:29, 8/13/2014 >
