These notes reflect a bulleted list of major and minor events in Thunderstar's Echo that can be easily navigated. They are intended to serve as a reference for those looking for specific events in re-reading and book discussions and include links to the relevant chapter subpages further detailing each chapter's events.
Thunderstar nods approvingly and tells Owl Eyes he trained his apprentice well.
Owl Eyes replies that the tom was eager to learn.
Snail Shell explains that he used to land short of the prey.
However, Owl Eyes taught him to land in front of the prey to catch it.
Apple Blossom brags that her mentor didn't have to teach her that, because her pounces were always good.
Lightning Tail reminds her it took a while for her to get the hang of picking out prey scent.
Apple Blossom starts sniffing and announces that she smells a mouse and a rabbit
Thunderstar asks her which she should hunt.
She replies that the mouse would be easier to hunt, but the rabbit would feed more cats.
Thunderstar nods and tells her that rabbits are harder to catch, which is why WindClan cats hunt in pairs to catch rabbits.
He suggests for the two young cats to hunt the rabbit together.
Apple Blossom decides to chase the rabbit towards her brother, and the two siblings are successful.
Impressed, Thunderstar praises them and says it will feed many cats.
They bury the rabbit and vole, and set off towards the border of ThunderClan and RiverClan.
Thunderstar thinks about the past leaf-bare, and how they managed to catch enough prey to sustain them.
Apple Blossom spots Moss Tail, and excitedly greets him.
The warrior flicks his tail in greeting, and continues back to his camp.
Snail Shell asks Owl Eyes if RiverClan cats can really swim.
Owl Eyes tells him to wait and see.
Moss Tail looks around before diving into the river, then resurfaces with a fish.
Apple Blossom comments that it is weird that RiverClan cats eat fish.
Lightning Tail tells her that fish wasn't so bad, and that Riverstar gave him some. He also offers to have the young she-cat try some.
She says no thanks, and that she'll stick to squirrel.
Thunderstar marvels at how things have changed.
Before, RiverClan would have challenged any cat so close to their borders, and Lightning Tail would have never dared taking a young cat to visit their camp.
But now the forest is at peace, save for a skirmish between SkyClan and WindClan. Thunderstar thinks that younger cats such as Apple Blossom and Snail Shell can now roam the forest without any fear.
Owl Eyes begins to ask what prey can be found.
However, Snail Shell interrupts him and asks if they can rest.
Thunderstar agrees, and the dappled tom collapses dramatically.
Lightning Tail explains that he and Thunderstar had to walk all the way to Twolegplace to rescue Owl Eyes, Sparrow Fur, and Pebbleheart and that they didn't have time to be tired.
Apple Blossom is intrigued that they went all the way to Twolegplace, and asks for confirmation from Owl Eyes.
The tom replies that yes, it was true, and scary.
A Twoleg picked up Lightning Tail, but Thunderstar made the Twoleg drop the black tom.
Lightning Tail adds that he fell in the river, and that's how they met Riverstar.
Without the tom, Lightning Tail wouldn't even be here.
Owl Eyes tells the friends to tell the young cats about the battle with One Eye, because he and his sister were old enough to fight.
Now Snail Shell is intrigued, all tiredness forgotten, and asks if that was when Skystar was kicked out of his Clan by rogues.
Thunderstar thinks that Lightning Tail is always so patient, and knows what to say to grab a younger cat's attention.
He is certain his friend is the best choice for deputy.
Thunderstar's happiness is short-lived as he encounters some cats squabbling.
He is annoyed because there is always some cats arguing, and it seems like every time they want Thunderstar to fix the problem.
As he walks into camp, the voices become clearer.
A voice belonging to Clover is yelling at another cat.
Thunderstar shoulders his way into camp by way of the gorse tunnel.
There, Shivering Rose is furiously yowling at the two siblings about their mistake.
She says she was supposed to be learning how to chew dock leaves and putting them on a wound.
If a cat gets injured, and there are no dock leaves, it will be their fault.
Thistle comments that no cat will get hurt, and asks the young she-cat if there was going to be a big battle.
Blue Whisker gets in on the action and replies that maybe foxes or badgers could attack warriors.
Thunderstar flicks his tail disapprovingly, as the youngest daughter of Moth Flight is stirring up trouble for no good reason.
Shivering Rose agrees that foxes or badgers could attack warriors, or someone could step on a rock or get a thorn stuck in their paw.
Thunderstar drops his prey on the prey pile and veers towards his den, hoping Violet Dawn is there.
He is interrupted by Clover, who wants him to tell the others that it wasn't her fault.
Lightning Tail asks what's the matter, and Thunderstar is jealous, as his friend doesn't have to listen to every dispute.
Shivering Rose says that Cloud Spots told Clover and Thistle to bring back dock leaves for her to practice with, but instead they brought back beech leaves.
Thistle argues that they looked the same, and Shivering Rose yowls in disbelief.
Thunderstar doesn't remember there being squabbling about the little things before he became leader.
Clover's snarl brings the ginger tom back to attention.
She says she's faster than a tortoise to her brother, and her brother says her nose might have been on her haunches while they were looking for beech leaves, while Shivering Rose says Cloud Spots told them to get dock leaves.
Thunderstar steps in, telling Clover and Thistle to apologize to Cloud Spots and Shivering Rose for bringing back the wrong leaves.
He also tells Shivering Rose to tell the siblings what dock leaves look and smell like so they won't make the same mistake.
When they open their mouths to argue, he silences them and says they are Clanmates, not kits, so they have to respect each other.
He tries to head for his den, but more angry yowls split the air.
Thunderstar goes over to see what's the matter.
Pink Eyes is yelling at Leaf, and saying he can't just hunt for his mate even though she has new kits.
Leaf argues that he wasn't on a hunting patrol, and that he was just bringing Milkweed something extra.
The white tom spats that all he ever thinks about are Milkweed and her kits.
Leaf retorts that even if he could see the prey, the tom would be out of breath before the rabbit chase was finished.
Thunderstar finally steps in and tells Leaf that he wasn't being fair to Pink Eyes, because even though the tom can't hunt, he will still be able to look after Leaf's kits.
Then he tells Pink Eyes that if Leaf isn't hunting for the Clan, he and Lightning Tail will send out more patrols.
Both toms look rebellious, and Thunderstar becomes irritated.
He tells them that they are too old to be arguing like kits, which is why the younger cats are doing the same.
He goes up to his den and finds that Violet Dawn isn't there.
He looks around to try to spot Violet Dawn and sees many of his Clanmates, including Yew Tail, Gooseberry, Owl Eyes, and Lightning Tail. Finally, he sees Violet Dawn going into the medicine cat's den.
The tom goes over the the den and asks if everything's okay.
Cloud Spots looks like he knew something he doesn't want to say, and tells them he'll leave them alone.
Thunderstar asks Violet Dawn what is up.
Violet Dawn meows that it wasn't anything bad, because it was just the opposite.
Thunderstar starts to wonder, and Violet Dawn tells him she was having kits.
That night, Thunderstar is unable to sleep.
He slips out and makes it to the clearing, where Lightning Tail is standing guard.
The black tom asks what's going on, and the leader replies that he can't sleep.
Lightning Tail is curious, and Thunderstar reveals that his mate is going to have kits.
The deputy meows his congratulations, but stops when he sees Thunderstar's eyes, and asks if he's excited.
Thunderstar replies that he is excited, but trails off.
Lightning Tail suggests that they go out of camp; after, Thunderstar says he's both worried and excited, because he can't stop thinking about his kits, and how he'll have to protect them.
Lightning Tail reassures his friend that his kits will be well protected, and will grow up healthy and strong.
Thunderstar is still worried and rattles off what else can hurt his kits, such as greencough, whitecough, and redcough.
He asks Lightning Tail if he remembers how Moon Shadow died when they were young, or how Turtle Tail got ran over by a monster, and that he'll never be able to protect them from everything.
The tom comforts him, saying he couldn't predict everything that will happen, and that a whole Clan will be looking out for the kits.
Thunderstar expresses his worry that he'll be a bad father, just like his own father, Skystar, was a bad father to him.
His friend states that it was ridiculous that he would ever think such a thing.
He reminds Thunderstar that it may have been Skystar who was his father, but Gray Wing was the one who raised him.
This brings back Thunderstar's memories of Gray Wing, who guided him all the time he was alive, and he agrees Gray Wing was excellent.
Lightning Tail says that he will be too, and even if he's not, he and Violet Dawn will help the kits grow up.
Thunderstar goes to SkyClan territory, and meets Dew Petal and Honey Pelt. Dew Petal calls Thunderstar her brother.
Thunderstar asks them to take him to Skystar, and they agree.
Dew Petal asks if she can see Thunderstar's kits when they are born, and Thunderstar agrees.
Thunderstar tells Skystar about the dogs.
Skystar tells Thunderstar that he scented some dog scent around here, but that it was very faint. Thunderstar is angry with Skystar.
The two leaders debate attacking the dogs with all the Clans at once, but Skystar doesn't want to risk his warriors.
Skystar decides to take Thunderstar to where he scented the dogs.
When they reach the place, Thunderstar realizes that if he had only scented this little amount of scent he wouldn't have warned the other Clans either, and Skystar is glad at the fact that Thunderstar isn't angry with him anymore.
They find a place where there is a parking lot (although they don't call it that) with a bunch of dead Twoleg monsters surrounded by a silvery material making a fence, and they hear dogs.
