- Leafpool shivers as she peered out into the clearing, she felt as if Tigerstar looked up, his gaze would burn up the tree trunk and reveal her cowering behind it. Instead, his eyes were fixed on his sons. Leafpool wondered if he had called him in their sleep, like medicine cats walked with StarClan. He had brought them to a place where no living cat had ever been, she doubts that even StarClan had breathed the dank air. Tigerstar starts speaking to his two sons, saying that courage matters more than anything and to remember that when they are leaders. Hawkfrost meows something Leafpool couldn't hear, Tigerstar flicks his tail impatiently then rasps that courage in battle is important, but you need to have courage in your clan. If they don't follow orders you meet them with tooth and claw. Leafpool's eyes widen in disbelief, and she thinks about Firestar, and how he didn't hurt his Clanmates, even if they disagreed. Tigerstar continues, saying that weakness is danger; that you must hide, or don't have doubts. Just be certain of what you are doing. Leafpool wonders if that is how Tigerstar felt when he murdered Redtail, plotted the murder of Bluestar, and brought BloodClan into the forest to lower the Clans into submission. Hawkfrost's eyes were fixed on his father, drinking in every word, Brambleclaw had his back to her, but his ears were pricked as icy claws gripped Leafpool's heart.
