This policy in a Nutshell To elaborate on the effects of sock puppetry and the punishments for it.
Sockpuppets are alternate accounts created by already existing users. The term also applies to IP addresses used by banned users to evade their blocks, or using a VPN. The use of sockpuppetry is strongly discouraged on Warriors Wiki, and if found out, you will instantly be given a ban. Sockpuppetries will be dealt with administrators by:
The use of sockpuppets to get around a ban will result in the sockpuppet being permanently blocked. The use of an IP address will also be completely banned across Warriors Wiki. If a VPN is used, it will be blocked as well, and people will keep a close eye on accounts that seem to follow the same pattern as the prior accounts being banned. Keep in mind that administrators are allowed to use check users, an action performed by staff to see if several users are using the same IP.
The use of sockpuppets to create an illusion that they agree with the original user's view will result in a ban of the original user and their sockpuppets.
The use of sockpuppets to influence a vote will result in the sockpuppets and original user getting banned.
The use of sockpuppets to get around another ban will be blocked as well with no hope of the user returning.
If a user wishes to change their username, and already exceeded the one time username change, with the permission of an administrator, they are allowed to create a new account and reveal their identity - it is even suggested to reveal it. The old username may not even be blocked, however, if the user asks for the old one to be blocked, it will be done.
The use of a separate account by the same user to run a bot is allowed.
