Nutshell
This policy in a Nutshell
  • Guidelines on when it is appropriate to post spoilers from unreleased books.
  • Explanation of how to properly mark spoilers on articles.

Basic guidelines

  • The beginning of a character's page (just above their {{Charcat}}) should be marked with a {{Startspoiler}} tag and the end of the character's quotes section should be marked with an {{Endspoiler}} tag. It should be noted that the Endspoiler tag occurs before the external links and citations sections.
    • Character pages where nothing of spoiler-nature is revealed, the spoiler tags can be excluded. These include characters such as Pinefur and Dewspots.
    • With any page that reveals the identity of the impostor, the {{Impostor}} should be added at the top of the page.
    • With any page that contains relevant information from the newest books, the appropriate {{BookSpoiler}} should be added at the top of the page.
      • Main arcs should stay up until the release of the next main arc book.
      • Super editions, Novellas, and Graphic novels should stay up for five (5) months.
  • Book pages should have spoiler tags at the top of the page and after the trivia section (before the publication history section).
    • Cliffnotes pages should have spoiler tags around the start and end of all the chapter sections. Allegiances do not need spoiler tags. Chapter subpages require spoiler tags as well.
  • World articles should have spoiler tags about any parts of them that reveal what happens in a book rather than basic information about a location or feature of the Warriors world. Real world articles should have spoiler tags only around the specific information that contain spoilers.

New books

  • Unreleased book articles should not have any plot information added to them until the book's release.
  • Information from books that have yet to be released should not be added to character pages until the book's release.
    • EXCEPTION: When the official "Browse Inside" is released from HarperCollins, Amazon, or the Warrior Cats website (NOT an excerpt in the back of another book!), new characters listed there can be given pages and tagged with the {{Unreleased Character}} template. These pages are to remain bare-boned with only their description and {{Charcat}} information; no history sections or plot summaries. However, existing characters that have undergone a name change that is revealed in the allegiances may not be renamed until approximately one (1) month before the book's release with the {{Unreleased Character}} template.
  • New artwork for any characters cannot be reserved or uploaded to PCA until midnight wiki time of the book's release. Any users who make reservations before said time will have their reservations invalidated. This also includes making art ahead of time.
  • When discussing spoilers from an unreleased book on user talk pages or blogs, users are recommended to mark these comments with bold text spoiler notes; i.e: SPOILER It's revealed in Night Whispers that... SPOILER END.
    • It should be noted this is not a strict rule, but highly encouraged, as a common courtesy for other users who may not have heard said spoilers.
