Buzzardstar.deputy Well, this is my first charart... MorningleafFox CubWolf Pup 15:37, September 7, 2009 (UTC)

Pretty good for your first charart, I only see a few problems:

  • Add shading and blend it, making it look real
  • Blend the ear pink and make it darker, it looks fluro
  • Add highlights on the pelt

Hawkey Ready for action 17:22, September 7, 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, I can't see any shading, add some and use the blur tool to make his pelt seem for 3-D. And blur the ear, make it not as bright. -- Peacesong Click Here To Go To........My Talk Page 18:14, September 7, 2009 (UTC)

They're right. Make the ear pink a triangle shape in the centre of the ear and blend a little. Despite what Hawke said above, don't add highlights until you've got the shading sussed as it'll make it more difficult and the image may not even need them. Get the shading and ear sorted and then see about highlights. Sandy~Dragonkit's Forest 18:23, September 7, 2009 (UTC)

OK. I'll fix that stuff. MorningleafFox CubWolf Pup 20:00, September 8, 2009 (UTC)

Reuploaded Can someone give me some tips on shading? I always get it too dark, and I don't know where to put it. MorningleafFox CubWolf Pup 20:11, September 8, 2009 (UTC)

I'm not really good at shading, either, but what I did was get the smudge tool, set the brush size to about 3 or 5, and then just smudge from the outline. (I did this in Pixlr.) And then I blurred it together by clicking on the blur tool and setting it to about 3-5. As I said, I'm not really sure about the best shading tips, but maybe that can help a little bit. Also, I noticed a couple of other things.

  • The right ear is just a little bit darker than the rest of his fur.
  • Try blending the ear pink some more. The ear pink it really standing out right now.

Icethroat21Hi, how's the prey running? 00:11, September 10, 2009 (UTC)

Thanks! I'll go fix that stuff. MorningleafFox CubWolf Pup 00:53, September 10, 2009 (UTC)

Reuploaded Okay. Anything else? MorningleafFox CubWolf Pup 00:21, September 11, 2009 (UTC)

I think the shading is on the back, the hind leg, and where the tail connects to his body. And the back ear should be darker as well. --Rainwhisker09 18:16, September 11, 2009 (UTC)

Okay, I tried to get it similar to some of the approved images, but it doesn't look quite right to me.... :( MorningleafFox CubWolf Pup 19:28, September 11, 2009 (UTC)

Blend the shading into the pelt. --Rainwhisker09 20:07, September 11, 2009 (UTC)

It needs a lot more shading. I can tell you used some, but I can barely see it. Icethroat21Enter at risk 20:13, September 11, 2009 (UTC)

ReuploadedOkay, I have made the shading darker, and blended it as much as I could. MorningleafFox CubWolf Pup 23:55, September 11, 2009 (UTC)

You've now blurred the whole outline. Make the ear pink smaller, more central and a slightly paler colour. There is a smudge of lineart above her nose. Unblur the outline and then make the shading thicker and blend it (without touching the lineart) Sandy~Dragonkit's Forest 14:25, September 13, 2009 (UTC)

I fixed the ear, and tried to fix the shading, but I still can't get it right :( MorningleafFox CubWolf Pup 16:02, September 13, 2009 (UTC)

Don't worry Morningleaf! You'll get it eventually - it takes most people a few tries. You've got the ear pink sorted now, which is good. On the shading, it's now the right darkness and thickness, just a little blotchy. You need to keep it as one clean consistent ine. Then blend the inside edges carefully so they start to run into the rest of the colour. Do not use the smudge tool though as this will make it streaky. Also, you need to remove the shading a little from the muzzle and a coupe of other places. At the moment you have shading following the whole lineart. Just choose the direction of your light source and then think about where the shadows would fall and put your shading there. Sandy~Dragonkit's Forest 16:15, September 13, 2009 (UTC)

Try blending the shading with the blur tool; in pixlr, the blur tool is the one that looks like a rain drop, and when you hold the mouse over it, I think it says "Blur Tool", but I can't remember...but that should blend it. I highly reccomend putting the brush size at about 3-7 (square), and keeping the strength at 100.

  • If you accidentally hit the lineart inside the picture, make sure to color back in the lineart pixels by putting the pencil brush at size 1 (circle or square, doesn't matter), and put the color to black. Then, just color where the lineart is blurred, and the lineart should return.
  • If you accidentally blurred/smudged it outside of the picture, then just put the eraser at 1 and erase the spots outside of the lineart.

I hope this can help some! And don't worry, you'll get the hang of it eventually! It just takes time and practice. :) Icethroat21Enter at risk 18:37, September 13, 2009 (UTC)

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention this: there is so much shading on the front leg, that I can barely see its actual color. Try using less shading there. Icethroat21Enter at risk 18:40, September 13, 2009 (UTC)

I agree with Icethroat. Also, you need to blend the shading. Last, there are like, little spots in between the shading. you need to get rid of that.*Swallowtip * EMBRACE THE TIP! 23:42, September 17, 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, I really agree with Swallowtip, the need to be removed, you probably made the spots because you first shaded it, then added some more shading in some parts, so the shading is darker where the spots are. Remove the spots, blend the shading. --PandasongProud Owner of a Imaginary Panda! 00:04, September 19, 2009 (UTC)

Okay, I'll work on it later today. I am very busy with school right now, so please don't decline this. MorningleafFox CubWolf Pup 12:14, September 19, 2009 (UTC)

Okay, I got rid of the spots. Anything else? MorningleafFox CubWolf Pup 19:52, September 21, 2009 (UTC)

Use this diagram for how to do the eye: 20px. Also, you're shading looks nicer now, but increase it a bit and make sure you blur the transition so there's no hard line. Darken the ear pink a little bit as well. --Bramble’-san' 22:14, September 21, 2009 (UTC)

Reuploaded I fixed the ear pink and the shading and blended it as much as I could. MorningleafFox CubWolf Pup 20:24, September 22, 2009 (UTC)

You hit the shading right on the nail, but the ear pink needs to be darker and smaller.Minnowclaw 01:48, September 24, 2009 (UTC)

You've accidentally blurred the lineart over the eye. Icethroat21Enter at risk 10:59, September 24, 2009 (UTC)

You actualy need shading on the tail far fore-paw and far hind-paw.Minnowclaw 21:31, September 24, 2009 (UTC)

kk, fixed it (I think) MorningleafFox CubWolf Pup 22:38, September 24, 2009 (UTC)

The shading needs blended some more, there's too hard of a line in the transition between the shading and the actual fur. Also, the tail needs some shading, and so does the chin. But don't use the smudge tool for this, use the burn tool on midtones at about 50 percent, with the brush size somewhere aruond 1 to 5, depending on where you're shading. Play around with it until you find what suits you best. Also, fix the ear pink just a little bit, it looks oval-ish right now. It needs to be more triangular, like the ear itself, with some space and light shading in between. Icethroat21Enter at risk 01:51, September 26, 2009 (UTC)

reuploaded MorningleafFox CubWolf Pup 19:48, September 26, 2009 (UTC)

The ear pink looks more purple than pink, but it may just be my computer screen. But the shading needs to be thickened, and it's too dark. Try using the burn tool like before, for the shading, instead of the smudge tool for shading. (sorry, I've discovered that the burn tool is much better than the smudge tool.) And to lighten the shading, use the dodge tool. Make sure you blend the shading into the fur as well, so there's a smooth transition of colors. Right now, there's still too much of a hard line. Also, the shading on the top of the head looks very abnormal, and needs to curve where the head lineart does, and there's some blurred lineart that needs un-blurred. To do that, just turn the gray pixels to black again with the pencil. Woah, long comment. The shading on the chin looks very good, by the way. :) Icethroat21Enter at risk 20:25, September 26, 2009 (UTC)

Blend in the shading on top of the head. --Spottedwing 19:58, September 27, 2009 (UTC)

KK, I fixed the shading and ear pink. Can someone please circle the places where the lineart is blurred? 22:46, September 27, 2009 (UTC)MorningleafFox CubWolf Pup

No need. I did you a favor (I hope you don't mind) and fixed it for you. There's a trick to fixing the lineart; you open the original blank, turn everything white transparent with the magic eraser, then use the selector tool to layer the lineart over your image. Lineart fixed. :) Are there any other comments? --Bramble-san 03:27, September 28, 2009 (UTC)

These are great! The only things I see are that the ears need to be pointed, the eyes need to be a bit bigger, and muzzle lineart needs to be thickened. HAWKFIRE98 21:31, September 20, 2009 (UTC)

Changed the muzzle line art to make it thicker and made ears pointer. With both I made them the maximum they could be without... looking disturbing. The eye can't get any bigger whatsoever without looking disturbing. Thanks! -- Dawnfeather  talk! 21:41, September 20, 2009 (UTC)

I thought M&S was making the cave-guard blanks...? These look great! But I think that the line where the muzzle connects to the neck looks a little awkward. I would change the line a bit. --Rainwhisker09 22:31, September 20, 2009 (UTC)

(M)- Oh, I forgot to tell you Blackclaw that I decided not to use them becuase I became way to busy. O_o Sorry! I like these blanks alot, but something about them makes them almost look chibi-ish...I can't pinpoint it right now, but I'll let you know if I figure it out. Mosswhisker & Steatlhfire 23:36, September 20, 2009 (UTC)

Haha, chibi? But yes, they do look rather young. I would hate to try and distort these images to try and make them look older, because they are beautiful now. Dawn, what do you think of making these our to-be blanks? They look like young cats beginning to enter adolescence. It's your choice, though. --Bramble My Realm 00:54, September 21, 2009 (UTC)

I have to-be blanks reserved Bramble. I don't think they look to young. If too many people disagree maybe they can be soft-paws.Minnowclaw 01:19, September 21, 2009 (UTC)

I think they'd be great for soft-paw blanks. But Bramble's right, they're too small to be cave-guard blanks. Icethroat21Enter at risk 01:39, September 21, 2009 (UTC)

We'll see what Dawn says, or if she can fix them to look older like the amazing artist she is. Minnowclaw, I'd like to see your blanks, if you are done with them. --Bramble My Realm 01:59, September 21, 2009 (UTC)

Adorable! The transition from hind-leg to paw is a tad awkward, though.-- Darkhallows  My den 08:23, September 21, 2009 (UTC)

Minnowclaw, are you making both tribe to-be blanks? Because if not, then you could do the prey-hunter to-be blanks and Dawnfeather could do the cave-guard to-be blanks. If you're OK with that, of course. --Rainwhisker09 12:34, September 21, 2009 (UTC)

Blackclaw: we're only having one set of to-be blanks. Sandy~Dragonkit's Forest 17:47, September 21, 2009 (UTC)

Oh... but couldn't you make two sets? It would be more work, but we're already making two sets of tribe cats, why not make two sets of to-bes too? Just an idea. Unless Danwfeather would rather make these soft-paws. --Rainwhisker09 22:50, September 21, 2009 (UTC)

You know what, these are too good to just toss out and mine will never be like this. Dawn, if you want, they can be to-bes and maybe I can scratch something up to be soft paw's.Minnowclaw 23:54, September 21, 2009 (UTC)

If you are sure, I think I'll do that. I don't think that there is any point making two different types of to-be blanks as we have only meet about three or four. Could those who had things they wanted changed please repeat themselves? This article is such a mess that I can't find anything! (sorry) -- Dawnfeather  talk! 01:18, September 22, 2009 (UTC)

Looks like this, I think: Blackclaw09: the line where the muzzle connects to the neck looks a little awkward. I would change the line a bit. Darkhallows: Adorable! The transition from hind-leg to paw is a tad awkward, though And everything else was about the chibi-ness, but that's settled now since they're becoming to-be blanks. --Bramble-san 01:33, September 22, 2009 (UTC)

I looked through Into the Wild, which is the only time he's known as a leader, and I saw nothing about scars nor torn ears. Provide a page number and I will change it. On the tail, how do you suggest I make it bent? A diagram would be appreciated. --Bramble-san 22:35, September 26, 2009 (UTC)

It mentions his broken tail somewhere in Secrets of the Clans...I think it mentions it in BP, but I can't remember at the moment. But in Secrets of the Clans, when Yellowfang named him after her broken heart, the other queen remarked that his name was Brokenkit because of his broken tail. (In other words, for page number, go to Yellowfang's story in SotC. It'll be somewhere in there.) Hawkfire, his ears being torn and the scars on his muzzle are when he was prisoner in the ThunderClan camp. (I think.)

For bending the tail...I'm not sure. Maybe putting a curve, or a couple of jagged lines in the lineart, and moving the rest. Also, there's a couple of white pixels in the lineart on the tail that need colored in black. (or brown with the tail) I love the tabby stripes! Well, Bramble, correct me if I'm wrong, but it says "bent in the middle like a broken branch." I've always imagined it in a straight line, and not curved. No offense Moss, but that tail needs to be a more bent. (P.S.:I love the tabby marking style. Can it be used for all striped tabbies?)With due respect, ––Σ ãliãs G.r.pawRR 05:46, September 27, 2009 (UTC)

Grayraven, it is bent in the middle. It can't be a sharp right angle; it would look highly unnatural. I changed his tail (thank you, Moss). How does it look?

As for the tabby marks, it has been said before that they look cartoonish and unofficial. I find I disagree with Kitsufox on this point; they look more professional to me than the y marks (though those are perfectly fine as well). So yes; these can be used, but it is also acceptable to use the y markings. --Bramble-san 17:45, September 27, 2009 (UTC)

(M) - It looks great! I could make the tail bend sharper, but like Bramble said, it would look unatural, plus his long fur would make it look pretty smooth either way. Mosswhisker & Steatlhfire 18:26, September 27, 2009 (UTC)

(M) - Shimmer, you haven't worked on this in almost 2 weeks. Please work on her soon or she'll have to be declined. Mosswhisker & Steatlhfire 20:58, September 19, 2009 (UTC)

Ummmmm, looks good by me.Minnowclaw 01:46, September 24, 2009 (UTC)

She looks good by me except she looks… chalky, is the only word I have for it. Try blurring everything on the pelt (except the lineart, and don’t distort the image). We’ll see how it looks then. --Bramble-san 02:41, September 24, 2009 (UTC)

I know I don't have any power, but this hasn't been worked on in almost a week. --Rainwhisker09 21:38, September 26, 2009 (UTC)

Blackclaw: The picture was reuploaded on September 20, and there was nothing said about what to edit on the picture until the 24th. It's only been a few days. Shimmersong: The shading on the belly and paws is still heavy for being white fur. Otherwise, aside from that and what Bramble said, Spottedleaf looks great! Icethroat21Enter at risk 02:06, September 27, 2009 (UTC)

Ok then. And I would prefer it if you called me Rainwhisker or Rain. --Rainwhisker09 13:27, September 27, 2009 (UTC)

Alright, sorry, Rain. Shimmersong, there's a bright line of ginger on the front leg that looks irregular, it needs darkened, or blurred. Icethroat21Enter at risk 19:45, September 27, 2009 (UTC)

The tail is still to dark and I for one think that the shading on his chest makes him look white. Trying going over it with the burn tool.Minnowclaw 00:41, September 29, 2009 (UTC)

Well, his belly is supposed to be white, but not his chest. --Bramble-san 12:11, September 29, 2009 (UTC)

I thought it meant chest too? Should I change it? Anyway, the tail shading is as dark as the leg shading.. I like it that way?-- Darkhallows  My den 03:44, September 30, 2009 (UTC)

There is a grey line at the bottom on the left that needs to be removed. Other than that, this looks great! One thing though: on the other prey hunters mud streaks have bene included - does he need them? Sandy~Dragonkit's Forest 15:02, September 19, 2009 (UTC)

Spottedwing is right. In Outcast, during the scene that Jayfeather saw, Stormfur was teaching the other cave-guards fighting techniques. Icethroat21Enter at risk 16:50, September 19, 2009 (UTC)

You're all right! Stupid me... I didn't even notice my mind was so full of other things. They're right Dawn; he was a cave-guard. Sandy~Dragonkit's Forest 17:50, September 19, 2009 (UTC)

Wait. I found another prey hunter with a simalar discription. Storm Clouds at Dusk. I love this image and I think it's too good to be declined. --Spottedwing 19:25, September 19, 2009 (UTC)

I'm with Spottedwing. What do you say dawn? Do you want to make this Storm Clouds at Dusk?Minnowclaw 21:42, September 19, 2009 (UTC)

I probably will, but just quickly - he was teaching the cave guards, but that doesn't mean he was one of them. I thought that because he joined the Tribe to be with Brook and all of his time there before offically becomeing one of them had been spent with Brook, being trained in Prey-Hunter-ness, that he had become a prey hunter (if that makes any sense) I mean, we know he had training in hunting, but I never saw him getting training in Cave-guarding. If no-one agrees with me, I will change him though. -- Dawnfeather  talk! 00:38, September 20, 2009 (UTC)

Actually - I have made some Cave-Guard blanks which I will put up at my next chance, so I'll just make this Storm Clouds at Dusk. -- Dawnfeather  talk! 04:12, September 20, 2009 (UTC)

Oh yeah - forgot about the line. Fixed the line, and by some random miracle, it finally let me make it transparent. So I made it transparent. -- Dawnfeather  talk! 04:16, September 20, 2009 (UTC)

Wait! In the allegiances of Eclipse, Stormfur is listed as a prey-hunter. --Rainwhisker09 22:37, September 20, 2009 (UTC)

This could probably be either, their descriptions are identical. The mud streaks need to be blurred in, Dawn. --Bramble’-san' 21:11, September 21, 2009 (UTC)

Rainwhisker: This should stay as Storm because I have a reference. Page 52 outcast, Brook says, "I was a prey hunter and Stormfur was a cave guard. Dawn: Beautiful! Not really much, but blur the mud streaks like bramble said.Minnowclaw 23:21, September 21, 2009 (UTC)

Add shading under the chin. Icethroat21Enter at risk 02:39, September 20, 2009 (UTC)

His stripes are strangely thin and are all the same. Try changing some to make them less regular- add some 'y' shaped ones or some more curved ones and thicken them all. I use a size 9 paintbrush for tabby stripes and they seem to work quite well. Perhaps a size 5 for an apprentice; experiment a little. Sandy~Dragonkit's Forest 12:03, September 20, 2009 (UTC)

Nice job, but she looks a tad dark. Maybe dodge her over one time. ANd she's sopposed to be really shiny... so maybe try a little highlight, but if you can't, that's fine. Really good, Icy.--Warrior♥Warrior's Den 18:54, September 29, 2009 (UTC)
