The bottom of the tail on <--- this side looks like it has an extra line on it, the front part of the belly (or chest?) doesn't look like it connects to the belly smoothly, and the shape of the paws look...off? to me. Could you please remove the dots above the head? It's a style thing and doesn't go with the style of any of the blanks we have. And yes, I agree the tail need to be thinned out a ton. It's almost thicker than the legs right now. Make the dew claw stick out less on the front paw, and make the back paw a more defined shape rather than a really smooth kinda soft line that makes it look too round and blobby. Shrink the paws quite a bit too, they're much too big for a cat in comparison to the leg size. Clean up the whisker lineart so it's a bit smoother, and maybe vary the lengths of the whiskers. Lastly, the chest is in front of the legs, so at this angle, the line for the chest should go over the far front leg, rather than the line that shows the leg connecting with the body being in front. Her back right paw looks as if it is pointing outward, could you possibly make it so it looks like we're looking at it straight on? Reverting back to the "original" blanks may be a bit more drastic than need be, especially since you'd basically loose all that progress of getting some aspects of the anatomy, as it is currently, looking well done. Maybe overlay the original and the current version and figure out any extremities that might need fixing with reference from Raelic's redline like the forepaws and the tilt to the back paws. Agreeing with what Cloudy said above; these are the blanks that she has uploaded. Berry prefers these blanks and these are hers to work with and manage. We've already put a lot of effort on these blanks to make them the way they are now, and it seems almost like a waste of that effort to go right back. Both blank styles are beautiful, but like Cloudy said, these are the ones uploaded, and the ones we should be sticking with. In the picture I referenced this from, that is how the back and shoulder look. The way th lifted paw is raised, as well, would make no toes visible, and if they were the paw would look crooked. I was going to do this pose as well when I entered, but I saw you used it already. Referencing back to the original image, I'd say the shoulder should end just above the tip of the right ear (the cat's right, /not/ our's), and the lifted hind paw should have two toes visible, so one toeline should be on it. No I really agree the toes should be defined on the front paw that's off the ground. For them not to be visible at all, the toes would have to be really curled, which isn't very natural. Also, now that I have a bit more time to comment, the shoulder of the paw on the ground is much too defined and large right now, and the place where it connects to the head is lined up in a way that it doesn't look connected to the actual leg. Try and follow the curve of where the lines would be if they were visible. The front paw that's on the ground also looks a bit twisted with that extra line on our left side. I'm not sure if that's the dew claw or a line to try and define the paw some more. If it's the dew claw, make it stick out a bit from the leg, so it appears more like an actual toe that has mass to it. The chest needs to follow the curve of the belly more, and as I said before, the chest would be in front of our right front leg at this angle. The place the elbow connects to the body shouldn't be visible. Try and thin out the haunch a bit, as she's starting to look a bit just overall chubby rather than pregnant. Our right back leg seems to both be oddly positioned (too high and too far to our left) and doesn't quite look clearly like a paw. It looks more like the bend in the leg right now, but nothing goes past the bent front foot that would show. Try and make the tail a bit more of a consistent thickness, only getting slightly thinner at the tip, and overall just slim it down a bit. Also, the eyes look a bit odd right now, like they don't quite match the way the other was drawn (trust me, I know what a pain they can be x.x), try and pick either one of them and make the other eye match a bit better. I do believe with cats, the back leg doesn't have a dew claw, but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. If I'm not, please remove that. And try and make the shape of the back paw curve with where the toes would be, rather than just a random kind of "guessed" curve with toes added in. That's a bit hard for me to explain, and if it doesn't make sense I can redline that part. The bridge of the nose seems a little thick and straight and is throwing off the nose. The nose doesn't really look like a cat's nose, it looks more like a triangle. The muzzle needs to be smoothed out more, and the eyes' lineart seems to be choppy in places. Also, the front left (our right) leg looks like it bending in a bunch of directions and the lineart is choppy. Still no light source. You need to find where the light is coming from (ie; top right) and then figure out where the shaded areas would be based on that. There's a shading chart here on the tutorials that you can look at if you need to. And define the earpink and make it a bit more grayish? It can barely be seen and still looks a bit neon-ish, imho. The lineart is not blurred, that is a darker shading. Trust me, I double checked. And, I'm not sure what "Under Evaluation" is supposed to mean. And, if Icy still wants to do Meadowslip, I can let her have it. I'm just a mild beginner at this, and I'm not that good at lighter cats as you can tell. :/ I'll practice lighter cats, though. Under evaluation is explained in the guidelines and Icy's reservation is invalid also explained in the guidelines. The lineart should look exactly the same as it does without a base pelt, shading, earpink, and the works with the exception of maybe the eye when concerning this particular cat. The lineart on the head looks odd. I would like you to fix that. Also, you can raise the opacity and rate of your blur tool to make it blur much more than that. And the ear pink is a little neon, and you can see here to grab a color that would suit gray more. Blur the ear pink some more. As for the lineart, may I suggest to go get another lineart image, open it on a layer above the image, selecting and then ctrl+x away the white, and then making your old lineart layer invisible? It'll fix any lineart issues, if you want to do so. Also, can you please add some more shading to the back of the cat (use a black airbrush airbrush at about 20), and the back of the legs, and darken it. Then blur it some more. The shading still needs to be blurred. I'd suggest maybe going to your shading layer, and using Filters>Blur>Gaussian blur, and using it at a rate between 13-23? Also, the shading covers up the forehead of the cat, where it wouldn't be due to the light source, maybe thin/erase that a bit? Expand the highlight on the haunch, and lighten up the base pelt. Right now, it looks like a dark gray-brown. Blur the shading a lot more. What I would recommend for blurring is to change the rate of your blur tool to 100, and you'll find that at the bottom of the brush opacity and tools. Blur it until it doesn't looks as solid anymore. Flamepelt's warrior was only just approved or is still in the process-haven't checked-. Also, he is too light of a cat to compare lineart's with. I compared Meadowslip's to Dustpelt's, and they matched exactly. I think it's the shading that makes it look like that. Also, Frosty was also telling me as she read through these that she will not change the earpink. It is staying like that. She said only if someone agrees with Creamtail, since Frosty believes someone will tell her "It's too neon" or "make it grayer." But I still hate disagreeing with Cloudy .-. Smooth out the shading at the neck, it's a bit blotchy there. Also, try to define the light source and shading. As, currently, it seems as if the light is only hitting on the lower back/rump, and a bit on the shoulders. If you use highlights, then I would suggest enlarging them on the shoulder area, and adding one for the head and one for the tail. If you use GIMP, you lower your blur rate. If you use pixlr, I'm pretty sure it can do the same..[Sorry have not used it in a long time]. So, blur (our)left paw some more by lowering your rate. Here, simplest way to do it on Pixlr: Select the wand tool, make sure both boxes are checked, select outside the lineart and press delete. That should do it. If you're using layers go through them with what's selected and hit delete on each. If that doesn't work you can use gimp, ezimba, or MS paint. Figured I'd tell you how to do it on Pixlr, since that's what you used for the charart, I assume. I did what you said, Shimmer, but Pixlr was playing up so I looked at the apprentice tutorials and tried to do it on paint.net but as soon as I got to the add transparency to each layer, I got confused, as I followed it correctly but then the wand tool kept selecting the whole layer. Also, it looks like the image is bending now. Flat, and bending. Your light source doesn't make that much sense, since you have the right idea on the bottom right leg, and in the center, but when you look at the head, the light source is too far up for it to match. You'll either have to remove some shading to make that part match with the rest, or change your whole light source. And, the image is very blurry. As I said before, it's possibly gaussian blur, and you didn't use the fuzzy select tool so it wouldn't blur the lineart. And I sorta agree with Berry, the image does look smaller to me, when comparing it to Flamepelt.warrior for example, who is also being approved. I have an easy tip to help you get rid of all of the waste. In almost any art program you should be able to do this. Go on the layer that has the lineart, then use your select tool to select outside of the lineart, then go on your shading layer(s) and go to Edit--->Clear and it should remove the waste for you. If you have any other layers of shading, then go on that layer and do the same thing until all of the waste is gone. I hope that helps and if not I could do a join.me to help you, just let me know. Kelpsey, the shading is stretched too far across the body, making it look gray. It doesn't look like it's filled in, because it would be blotchy then. The only white I see is on his back, and that's about it. And the shading is there, it just looks like it's the new pelt color, and the white is its highlight. -Hope you're not overwhelmed, Amber. The best way I've found how to shade a white cat (thanks to Paleh), is to basically only put shading on the darkest parts, and if the base pelt is a few small gradients above white and you use pure white to highlight, it won't get spread across the pelt and it will help. Amber, I'm just going to point out that tinting your shading is, in no way, shape, or form, mandatory for the project. There are still some long-time members that don't know how to tint, or prefer not to. It's a matter of preference, so please don't take the comments suggesting a tint as mandatory. I meant by my comment above was that the shading was blurred to a point that I have difficulty making out a light source or highlight on the head and haunch. I cannot see any definite shading on the tail, and the paws are completely shaded over. A little work with an eraser on the paws, raising the opacity of the shading layer a tiny bit, and an airbrush on the edge of the right side of the tail will work to quickly fix the problem. That's why I left my comment because I see that needs to be done, if that is not too much to ask. I'm a little bit confused here. Images are often declined due to a lack of work, which is caused by not uploading within a week of the last upload. I understand life is first, and I get the whole butload of homework predicament. It happens to me too often. But a rule is a rule, and I don't understand why it wouldn't apply here as so many other images have been declined due to that in the past. I wasn't giving her leeway or anything, but letting her use the same section as to not spam the approval page. She's more than welcome to reupload and repost, and it's not breaking any rule whatsoever. Breezey told her that she could repost in a week or so, and that's not technically correct, but I guess that could be explained by the lack of consistency in parts of the guidelines. - The issue I have is that Berry should not be allowed to post it again after it's been declined as it would undermine the entirety of declining due to lack of work. If users are allowed to "repost" their image after a seven day period, then keeping it reserved and "reposting" would also be allowed, which would conflict with the reservation time limit as well. Declining an image due to lack of work and having a hands-off period for said user would be a less conflicting course of action than to allow Berry to repost it. There are two points, and right now, we're focusing on the one that allows Berry to repost it, not the topic of application.
- As for your comment, Darkfrost, you must start it from scratch otherwise it would be image theft and editing. The only situation that barely passes as exception to that rule is tweaking and redoing because it has consent of the project's community consensus. Re-uploaded. Sorrel, no need to get snippy with her. She's having a hard life right now. And anyway, yes Raven I saw your point, and I changed the tint slightly so it doesn't blend as much. Added more dark gray mottles and tried to make them smaller, but I didn't want to mess up the pattern. Defined the eye depth, tail shading, and I matched the ear pink with the warrior's. o3o I can't tell if he did, Leggo. So yeah, I have got a critique on the ear as well.. It looks like the earpink leaks out of the ear, and onto the face. I believe it should stay higher up, and in between the lineart up there, and it seems to go beyond that, making it look sloppy. If possible, please fix that Stoner. The shading on the [our] right shoulder is a little blotchy. The highlight only, not the actual shading. That could very well be, but I do remember being on the chat and asking Berry if it would count, and she/he said it would. They may not have been kits when they died, but in the case of Cloudstar's Journey, they probably wouldn't have lived long in the harsh traveling conditions. They have references for being in SkyClan's own StarClan, and I figured that with the references and Berry's approval on the live chat, it would count. Not nessesarily. You see, Reedfeather was actually pretty old (And was never mentioned as a tunneler), and before Reedfeather, it was Heatherstar. I doubt there would be anything in between seen as Tallstar was born when she was a pretty young leader. I'm sure he was a warrior, so I say this should stay. Well, I still think it would be an assumption as to his rank. Do we actually know how old Reedfeather is? Flailfoot could have been deputy for all we know, then retired, and an older Reedfeather took up his position.
